Is using a exercise ball effective for abs?

I have a bit of a back problem so looking for ways around not putting so much pressure on my back. Would an exercise ball help this in any way and is effective in working on abs? And if so what exercises?

Havent purchased a ball yet but may do so soon.

Definitely! They’re amazing! Basically they make exercises harder because it makes your core unstable. You can do regular crunches on them, but make sure you’re not using the bounce of the ball to get your upper body up. I’m not sure if this’ll be too tough on your back, but you can do push ups off of the ball (your shins would be on the ball, hands on the floor). Those are 2 of my favorite things to do with them.
